SketchyMedium to large scale

Bill Shannon (aka Crutchmaster) is known internationally as a conceptual, interdisciplinary performance and media artist. He considers his work rooted in street/club culture and informed by the fine arts. He is widely recognised in the dance-performance world and the underground hip-hop and dance club scene, as well as the disabled artist community.

Sketchy is Bill's new group piece, set to be as remarkable as ever. A living documentary of street-inspired movement forms including breaking, popping, housing and freestyling. Its complex manouveurs are then examined through the interactive use of live video projections, offering a behind-the scenes look at the risk involved when dancers push themselves beyond their known limits.

His full credit list is too long to reproduce here, but a few highlights include choreographing for the Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai; receiving in 2003 a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship; performing in Amsterdam, Jordan, France, and regular appearances in New York City and all over the States.

"Bill Shannon’s choreography appears to defy basic principles of balance and gravity, creating a remarkable kinetic world of its own."
Jack Anderson, The New York Times
