Midland Actors Theatre presents
Prospero's Island
February to March 2004
Prospero’s Island by David Calcutt is a ‘prequel’ to Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Like The Tempest, it is full of extraordinary characters and magical events. It blends high drama with scenes of knockabout humour and farce.
It is a stunning visual spectacle, celebrating the ‘rough magic’ of theatre - mixing masks and movement, mime and song. This acclaimed production toured to Midlands venues in 2002 and the national tour coincides with the publication of the play by the Oxford University Press.
“a great play performed by a fine cast – who could ask for more?” The Scotsman
