Twisting Yarn Theatre Company presents

Life of Pi

Spring 2007

Life Of PieFrom the production arm of the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford comes this highly acclaimed theatrical adaptation of the 2002 Man Booker prize winner for fiction: The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

The play charts the story of Pi, a 16 year old Hindu boy from Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu (Southern India). His family owns a zoo and Pi learns about life from animals around him. He is a precocious boy and - much to his family's disbelief - becomes a Muslim and a Christian as well as being a Hindu! His family decide to leave India and emigrate to Canada, taking some of the zoo's animals with them. En route, the ship sinks and his family dies - or do they? This is the story of Pi's adventure, surviving at sea on a life boat with a zebra, a hyena, an orang utan and a 450 lb Bengal Tiger: a story that nobody believes - or do they? - do you?

"a superb production...it has the senses tingling and the imagination soaring...the creativity and inventiveness on show takes the breath away...a huge achievement" - THE STAGE
