Philadelphia’s much heralded hip-hop company returns to its pure dance roots with Facing Mekka.

Facing Mekka will be a landscape of movement, rhythm, sound and image that offers a view of dance as a vehicle for uniting people and cultures. It will feature a cast of approximately 17 dancers, live percussion and a recorded sound score (with original vocal compositions performed by Grisha Coleman, Philip Hamilton, and ‘the human orchestra’ Kenny Mohammed). Two collage artists will use images to create a multi-layered landscape.

In Facing Mekka, Harris will continue to explore hip-hop movement and push this style of dance into a broader performance context.
