UK Arts International

Training and Professional Development

UK Arts International is committed to training and continued professional development, both internally and in helping to build capacity in the industry as a whole.

Over the past ten years, Arts Council England has granted the company a number of bursaries to train new producers and we are very proud that all of our placements are now running their own companies or working within prestigious arts organizations - as are the majority of UKAI's previous employees.

We have been particularly active in mentoring arts professionals from culturally diverse backgrounds and, in 2006; we participated in ITC's BME Fast track scheme, mentoring a trainee arts manager from Kenya.

Jan Ryan taught for a number of years on the ITC Touring Abroad course and has run training sessions in New York, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Dublin and Copenhagen.

In 2006, she contributed a chapter to a publication on Black theatre in the UK, entitled Staging New Britain.
